How Secure is the Locking System on the Thule DoubleTrack 2 Bike Platform Rack
Question:
I see that the clamps lock but does locking it also keep the arms from moving up and down? It seems like someone may be able to wiggle the clamp free, especially if its pointing upward, and then move the arm. I had my bike stolen and I want to make sure so Im looking at this model. Cable locks dont cut it. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your bike! When it comes to the Thule DoubleTrack # TH92BJ, the locking feature on the clamps really just keeps the clamps locked so that they can't be taken off the bike. It tightens using the knob first so that it creates a tight grip on the frame of the bike and then locks from there; as long as it's tightened sufficiently, you're not going to be able to slide the clamp along the bike frame with much ease, so it's going to be a secure connection.
With that said, it's tough to keep any determined thief from getting what they want, so you may want to consider adding a cable lock like the Thule Cable Lock # TH538XT to the setup for an additional layer of security when you may be leaving your bike attached somewhere you don't have a good view of it. You can also make it so all of your locks are keyed alike by adding a lock core kit with part # TH450400, to allow you to operate all of your locks with the same key.
I've linked some review videos of these parts you may want to have a look at, as well.
