Parts Needed to Tow a Boat Trailer with a 2017 Honda HR-V
Question:
Hello I have a 2017 Honda Hrv front wheel drive that I would like to tow a 12 ft Jon boat and trailer with. What parts would I need and how much would they cost. Sorry if I sound dumb I just have no idea what’s needed. Thank you

I'll be happy to help you get your 2017 Honda HR-V setup for towing a boat trailer!
Whenever a 2" hitch receiver is available for a vehicle I usually recommend going that route just because it allows you to use a wider variety of accessories. So for a hitch I recommend using the EcoHitch # 306-X7322 which has the 2" receiver and a hidden crosstube, however since I know that pricing is always a factor if you wanted something a little more cost-effective I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11416. This has the smaller 1-1/4" hitch receiver and a visible crosstube but it will work just as well.
The next thing you need is wiring and for that I recommend the T-One # 118673 as it is the most reliable option. This tees in behind your tail lights and provides you with a 4-Way flat connector for basic trailer lighting.
Last but not least is a ball mount. If you go with the EcoHitch then I recommend the Curt Fusion Ball Mount # C45155 but if you do with the Curt trailer hitch then I recommend using the Curt Euro Style Drawbar # C45572 with the pin & clip # F-4. These options come with a 2" hitch ball and offer a little over a 2" rise so if you have something different just let me know and I can make another recommendation. I have attached a helpful article on ball mounts for you to reference.
Also be sure to reference your owner's manual on any specifications when it comes to towing with your HR-V.
