Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on both the driver's side and the passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold panel and interior trim panels to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

This kit installed exactly like the instructions showed. The most difficult part (and it wasn't that tough) was routing the wire to the engine compartment. A set of panel tools like these found here at etrailer part # PT73HJ make the job much easier. I installed this kit on a 2018 Honda HRV which I use to pull a lightweight 4X8 flatbed trailer.Prior to this I was forced to use a full size truck to tow the trailer with which was over kill. Quality product !

After a year this kit continues to provide extremely reliable service. We are happy to have it on our car! Again cant stress enough how handy the panel tools were! Buy with confidence!

It was easy to install, and has worked very well. I am very pleased with all my transactions with a trailer and recommend to my friends.

After 1 year the trailer hitch and wiring harness are working well. Fitment is perfect and looks OEM. Was easy to install using instructions and videos on the internet. Product is very heavy duty and allows me to use a 2 inch trailer hitch carrier to carry bulky items and a small motorcycle. I'm sure product is much stronger than the tongue weight capacity of the car so be careful not to exceed it. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and would purchase again. I plan to use EcoHitch again for my future trailer needs.

After a year the hitch and wiring harness are working perfectly. No rust on the hitch. Contacts are going strong. People dont even realize I have a trailer hitch on my HRV unless I point it out. No issues with vehicle. I still recommend this product to anyone who needs to add a hitch.

by:

Got my hitch in timely matter, the wire harness wasn’t with it though, not sure if it was forgotten or fell out of the slightly damaged box via ups, guessing the latter. I let them know and they promptly sent me a replacement wire harness. Solid products and great customer support/communication. Highly recommended!

I put the 118673 wiring kit and a Curt Hitch receiver on a 2019 Honda HRV All Wheel drive and How can one not love it when you get done and it all works like it is supposed to. The Curt hitch almost hides at the back of the vehicle. My wife didn't notice it until I told her it was already installed.
Keeping in mind, the times suggested are for a “PRO” who has a hoist to put the vehicle on and it will take the DIYer a bit longer. The only “real problem” that I had was that with the torque wrench I have, (one brought over on the Mayflower) I was unable to get enough swing to use it on the nut up above the muffler so after tightening the driver side nut, I then used a box-end and using the feel needed to tighten it a bit more, I used that feel to tighten the passenger side above the muffler. Even at 75 years of age and with vertigo, I still have the ability to turn an hour job into a 5 hour job and now my wife understands why I did not want her to sell my ramps, jack-stands and other things she thought an old man shouldn't need. Chidding aside, the videos accessed from etrailer were very good and very helpful. First, because I am “cheap” I was not going to pay over $400 to have a hitch installed, almost $500 for one that was not visible when not in use when the rear differential on the AWD HRV was visible from behind anyhow. I was also not going to pay to use a hoist so I just borrowed a set of ramps using them first under the rear wheels and then under the front to complete the installation of the power lead from the vehicle battery to the trailer lite converter box. A couple suggestions; the first, is do not take the fish wires off of the bolts before you have the hitch up in place. I thought that the hitch was light enough that I could put it up there, hold it in place and start the nuts but as luck would have it, one of the bolts ended up inside the frame. Not wanting it in there to rattle around I had to find a magnet small enough to fit through the hole used to fish the bolt into place and using a stiff enough piece of wire to be able to move the magnet effectively I manage to recover the bolt. Then I had to “RE-form” the fish wire to use it again to fish the bolt into place again. The second suggestion is that I used a lot more Zip-ty's than were supplied because we live in snow country and I did not want snow and ice hanging from the power lead and bringing it down lower and possibly getting damaged during our winters and I also put the power lead inside a flexible vinyl tubing which took a bit of creative pursuation to get 20 feet of wire into a 3/8 in flexible vinyl tubing but I think the extra protection the lead will have is worth the effort. And finally, if you remove a cargo area light from the cargo area side panel to get extra room behind the side panel, one has to make sure you have put it back into its place of mounting or you will have to take the rear door threshold and side panel loose again to get your cargo area light back into its proper place.

Over the past ten years, I have purchased five hitches from etrailer.com. This company is outstanding for several reasons: 1. Their website is fantastic and easy to order, 2. My order arrived in one week from across the country! 3. Instructions (written and video) are simplified and easy to understand, 4. I installed the hitch
by myself! WOW!

2016 Honda HR-V

My husband is a master mechanic & engineer and electrician, he was so impressed with the quality of the materials used in the trailer hitch, right down to the conical washer. He ran the wiring and we installed the trailer hitch in one weekend.
We will surely recommend you to all.

2017 Honda HR-V

Requires running a wire from the drivers side taillight area to the battery, but the instructions are pretty good and it comes with all the wore and hardware you'll need. It comes with a ground screw and gives instructions to drill a small hole to mount the ground screw, but I didn't have to use it I just used an existing 10 mm mounting screw already near the tailight. Use WD40 to make removing and replacing the plastic parts in the back you have to remove. Took me 30-40 minutes

etrailer.com is awesome !! with great selection, training videos and everything you need to DIY, this was my third trailer hitch I purchased from them. They are my go-to for hitches and related items.

2020 Honda HR-V

Great price. I wasn't sure I could do this, and trust me, I didn't knock it out in 10 mins. But it wasn't hard, I just took my time and got it done. The connections up top were easy and if I had not had to go under the car to run the wire to the battery in front, this would have been a quick and easy process. I have made several purchases now from etrailer and I will certainly do it again, great company, wonderful products.

by:

This wiring harness was easy to install and I've used it for a year now.

by:

Product made the wiring very simple. A little work getting a good path for the power wire to the front of the car but that’s the cars design and the dumb cover underneath. Installed but have not tested yet. Highly recommend so far

by:

Still holding up (like new) One year later! The fitment was exceptional, the finish was clean, and everything worked exactly as expected. The receiver and harness plugs fit nice and snug, and the unit has zero rust after one year of use. Great product!

by:

Easy to install and the install video was extremely helpful. The only pain was running the battery wire. I actually ran it under the door trim molding which was a lot easier.

by:

Works exactly as described. Do note: the wiring is not exactly the same on the 2017 HRV (at least for the EXL FWD version). I had to drill a hole to get the wiring through the bottom in order to route to battery.

by:

It runs on the exhaust pipes and makes terrible noise

by:

It has performed as it should. The video instructions were a great help. Thanks

by:

NOT MY FIRST PURCHASE FROM etrailer AND STILL FULLY SATISFIED.

by:

Great product coupled with fast service. Needed customer support due to error on my part and they were great as well.

by:

Easy bolt on and does the job well. Have yet to install the wiring but it doesn't look to difficult.

  • Can ecoHitch # 306-X7322 Hitch Handle Towing Small Trailer with 2018 Honda CR-V
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver you'd looked at, part # 306-X7322 is a confirmed fit for fit for your 2018 Honda HR-V and has a 2000 lb towing/300 lb tongue weight (maximum amount of downward force that can be applied to hitch) capacity. So, the hitch itself can handle a trailer and cargo weighing up to 2000 lbs. The US version of the owner's manual states that the vehicle shouldn't be used to tow a trailer, but I've seen online references to an 800KG towing capacity (1760 lbs)...

For your 2018 Honda HR-V the hitch I would recommend is the Curt part # C11416 which is a confirmed fit and would work well. IIf you use this hitch for a non-towing application like a bike rack or cargo carrier, you will need the stabilizer strap # 18050. This is required by Curt. For trailer wiring you'd then want the # 118673 which is a confirmed fit and our most reliable option. For a ball mount you'd want the part # 3593, 2 inch hitch ball part # 19258, or 1-7/8 inch # 19256.

Best option would be to tow a small trailer with your vehicle. To do that you'd also need trailer wiring like the Tekonsha part # 118673 and a ball mount like # C45521.

Yes, you can use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11416 on your 2021 Honda HR-V LX, to be able to carry 2 bikes. This receiver will fit all trim levels and both the FWD and AWD drive types. As you are going to be carrying a bike rack an important measurement is the hitch pin center to bumper measurement which we find to be 5" when installed in our shop.
