Recommendations for Replacing an Atwood Trailer Brake Actuating Coupler

Question:

Replacing this coupler 84132 Would prefer to use one like the #F346000301. I back the trailer up a hill on a regular basis, and the ATWOOD Reverse Lock-Out lever would never disengaged brake. I had to place a metal shim in the socket to keep the lever in release mode. Would the # F346000301 be an equivalent replacement?

You would want to replace an actuating coupler with another actuating coupler. The Fulton coupler, # F346000301 is a standard coupler so you would not have any brakes when using this coupler. I recommend the Titan, # T2480000. This coupler does not have an electric reverse lockout so you would either need free backing breaks or a separate lockout like # T4748800 that will need to be connected to the reverse light circuit on the vehicle. No more getting out of the truck or levers to pull. The solenoid will prevent fluid from going to the brakes when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
