Trailer Wiring Harness C56333 for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Shows Power on the 4-Way All the Time
Question:
Vehicle is 2008 Dodge Caravan Installed Part is Curt C56333 Wiring Harness Just installed the wiring harness as directed. When I tested the output connector where the trailer would plug in, I have voltage on all wires even without any lights turned on. Activating the turn signals or the headlights makes no difference at all. I have not plugged the trailer connector in yet.

The Curt trailer wiring harness # C56333 for the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan should only show power on the 4-Way when the converter receives a signal from the vehicle tail lights. Constant power indicates a short or possible bad connection. However it is also possible that a small amount of power is coming through since this is a powered converter. It would only be enough to dimly light the trailer lights, if that. If this is what you are seeing, it is normal for this harness.
Make sure the white wire is grounded to a clean metal surface. The black power wire needs to be connected to the positive battery terminal via the fuse and fuse holder included with the kit. No other power source should be used. You can try starting over from the beginning only disconnect the negative battery cable as the first step.
If you have made all of the connections correctly and the 2 wires are grounded correctly then the harness must be bad and it will need to be replaced. I have included some links for reference.
