Spare Tire Carrier for Front Mount Hitch on 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty With 100 lb Tire

Question:

My spare tire is 225x70x19.5 and weighs almost 120#. I am looking for a front mount that fits in the 2” front receiver bought from e-trailer to hold this size tire. I don’t like the angle and would prefer one that was more straight up and down my maybe a shim or adapter could be used? Will this mount work for this weight of tire? I am not interested in anything that mounts on the rear hitch as I am trying to take weight off the rear of the truck due to large camper with 4ft overhang.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # c31006 does have a bit of an angle, you're right, but I can't recommend using any type of shim or adapter to change the angle. That said, the angle isn't extreme, as you can see by the photo I added showing this carrier at an angle.

This really is the best option for your tire because the only other carrier that has the weight capacity and is straight up and down is the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 which is designed to be a dual carrier/hitch receiver which means it is less economical.

I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # c31006.
