Can Longer Crossbars Be Used for Thule Crossroad Roof Rack on 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail

Question:

I drive a 2012 4Runner Trail. I know the fit guide tells me I need to use the Crossroad footpack to go with the 53inch bars. I would much prefer the 60inch bars, but I dont know if the slot on the underside goes in far enough to allow me to mount those using the Crossroad Footpack, which appears to be the one that will mount to my factory rails. The documentation here says that the slots go in 9.75inch which would seem to mean that the minimum width on the rails would have to be 40.5. Is that correct using the Crossroad footpack or would that make a difference? Thanks

I can help you with that. To determine if a 60 inch bar like the # TH711520 Thule WingBar Evo will work, you'll need to measure the distance between the two side rails on the roof of your 4Runner Trail. Measure from the center width-wise of one rail across to the center of the width of the rail on the other side. If this distance falls in between 42-3/4 and 53-1/2 inches, the 60 inch crossbar will work great for you. If not, you'll need to go with the 53 inch bar.

I hope that helps!
