Where is Rise and Drop Measured From on Roadmaster Dual Hitch Adapter

Question:

We have a class A motorhome and flat tow a Buick Envision - we currently install the Thule EZ fold XT on the rear of the Buick for bike transport. Our towbar is the Blue Ox Avail and the plane between the clevis tabs on the car and the hitch receiver on the motorhome is perfectly flat at 17 inches from the ground. Blue Ox states that there is maximum rise/drop of 3 inch allowed between the receiver and vehicle. We may want to move the 65 lb ebike and rack to the rear of the motorhome using a dual receiver adapter and need to know if the advertised 2-1/4 inch rise/ is the actual difference in height. From the spec sheet, it would seem the actual height difference would be from receiver center-to-center or pin hole-to-hole. Please advise. Thanks

The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 2-1/4" Rise/Drop # RM-077-2 does measure 2-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole on the shank to the center of the hitch pin hole on the receiver.

You definitely will want to move your Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 bike rack off of your flat towed Buick because this rack is not approved for use on the rear of a flat towed vehicle. That means if something were to happen to your rack when it was on a flat towed vehicle it would not be covered under its lifetime warranty. Unfortunately, it's not rated for motorhome use, either. So, you'll want to upgrade to something that is motorhome-rated like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR.

I have added a link to a video review and the installation instructions for you as well of the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2.
