Can Chucking be Eliminated During Starts and Stops on the Reese 5th Wheel Slider Trailer Hitch
Question:
When i pull out with my camper or slow down an stop there is slack at the kingpin. Is there something i can do to stop the joltingof the sart an stop? Is there an adjustment to get the play out?

Expert Reply:
The slight jolt that you notice during starts and stops is inherent with the slide bar type of jaw that is present on the Pro Series 5th wheel trailer hitch PS30094. The slide bar leaves more space than other, more secure jaws on other hitches. Short of replacing the hitch with one that has a different jaw style, you cannot reduce or eliminate this jolting.
The next step up in a hitch that has a more secure jaw is the Reese 16K, # RP30051. I have included a picture that shows what the jaws look like on this hitch. The double jaw style will reduce the chucking but will not eliminate it.
