Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack for 2019 Ford Expedition with Factory Rails and No Crossbars

Question:

I asked a question about putting a rhino rack platform on my 2019 Ford Expedition, and Carla said to use the rrsx 100 but the don’t seem to fit the factory rails. Can you confirm that the sx100 legs fit the factory rails, maybe I am doing something wrong.

I actually had the chance to work with a 2019 Ford Expedition. While in the shop, I tested the RhinoRack roof racks we had shown to be compatible with the factory installed rails and to my surprise, the SX Series Legs # RRSX100 were not a fit. When trying to install them, I could tell they were not tall enough to catch on the rather large and triangular shape of the Expedition rails.

The only style of legs or towers that will work is the kind that wraps around the entire bar, like the TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y33TR, which can be paired up with # Y05042-2 to install the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray # Y05045 without the need for traditional crossbars.

Since RhinoRack does not offer a leg kit in this style, the only solution to attach a Pioneer Platform is to use their Vortex StealthBar Roof Rack # JB0190, which uses the wrap around straps integrated into the crossbars. The Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform # RR42115BF can then be installed directly onto the crossbar's T-tracks or by attaching around the crossbars with the supplied top and bottom brackets.
