Features:
The fan clutch is an important component of most belt-driven fan systems. It ensures that that the fan is engaged at low speeds or high temperatures to provide adequate airflow to your vehicle's cooling system. When sufficient airflow is present, as is usually the case when your vehicle travels at high speeds, the clutch will disengage the fan to save on power, removing that additional load from your engine so that it may run more efficiently.
A thermal fan clutch relies on a thermostatic coil to read the under-hood temperature. When the temperature reaches a set level, the fan will engage to provide additional airflow for the cooling system. If the temperature drops to a set level, the fan will then disengage to save on power and decrease the load against the engine, thus allowing your vehicle to run more efficiently.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today will take a look at this Derale thermal fan clutch with reverse rotation. Now this is designed to fit the 1988 to 1995 Chevrolet and GMC truck and SUV with the 4.3 liter V6, a five liter V8 and the 5.7 liter V8 engines. This is a thermal model that will engage the fan based on your under hood temperature. It ensures air flow when cooling is most necessary. Now a thermal fan clutch uses a bimetallic spring right here to sense the temperature.
So when the engine's cool, the fan is disengaged. Now, as the temperature increases, the spring will rotate the valve plate and allows the fluid to flow. And this engages the fan. And as the temperature drops the spring relaxes rotating the valve plate back. This stops the fluid flow and disengages the fans pretty simple operation.
This is a nice aluminum construction, allows for maximum heat dissipation. You can see it as a multi-fin design transfers greater volume of air to dispel more heat, does use a heavy duty bearing with high temperature molly grease creates a more durable higher functioning clutch. And we mentioned this as a reverse rotation design. So that means basically, it's vehicles that if you're standing at the front of the car looking back to the front of the engine this will rotate in a counterclockwise direction. And this part is made in the USA does come with the four bolts for installation but that should do it for the review on the Derale thermal fan clutch with reverse rotation..

This fan clutch works well mated to a Derale fan on a new chevy 350 HO crate engine in my '78 4x4 truck. Many hours of towing a camp trailer and 4-wheeling with no problems. Runs at operating temp all day, year round.
