Can Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray Y05045 Be Installed On 2017 Toyota Tacoma W/ OEM Roof Rack

Question:

The 2017 Tacomas OEM roof rack has a 100 lb capacity when opened up but can I use this platform w/ the roof rack in the stowed position? Will I still be restricted to the 100 lb weight limit? I have the Yakima Timberline towers that I can use with this platform along w/ the SL adapters.

When the OEM roof rack on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma is in the stowed position the crossbars are removed and put inline with the rails on the side, so when in this position the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray - Aluminum - 60" Long x 54" Wide # Y05045 or any other roof mounted accessories cannot be used. With that said you would still have the same 100lb load limit.

Instead the crossbars will need to be opened up for the # Y05045 to be installed, and you will need to use the Crossbar Clamps for Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack - Qty 2 # Y05039 to attach the rack to your factory crossbars.
