Is Weight Distribution System Needed for 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Towing Cherokee Wolf Pup
Question:
Hello, I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT CREW Cab. I will be pulling a 2020 Cherokee Wolf Pup RV trailer. Do I need weight control? Or Sway Control? Both? Or nothing? Please let me know what do you suggest. Thank you!

A general rule of thumb with regards to a weight distribution system is that one is recommended whenever the trailer is heavier than half the tow vehicle's weight. The Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS can weigh as much as 3,877 pounds fully loaded, while your 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT weighs between 5,000 and 5,500 pounds depending on how it's equipped.
Since the camper does weigh more than half of your truck, a weight distribution system is a really good idea and you're going to receive significant benefits from one. It's going to transfer the trailer's tongue weight to all the axles of your setup for a level ride and if you get one with integrated sway control (which is what I recommend), it's going to keep that trailer in line during travel for a much more pleasant towing experience.
A properly rated weight distribution system with sway control will take stress off both the truck and on the driver, so you can arrive at your destination with a steady heart rate and color in your knuckles.
For your particular setup, I highly recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA92-00-0600. This system features integrated 2-Point Sway Control that will drastically limit movement on the trailer and its 250-600 pound tongue weight capacity matches the potential loaded tongue weight range on your Wolf Pup perfectly.
The only thing you will need to add if you don't have one already is a compatible hitch ball like the 2" EQ91-00-6080 or the 2-5/16" EQ91-00-6100.
I have attached a short video demonstration on the Fastway system below that you can check out as well.
