Curt A16 vs B&W Companion for 2020 F-250 Towing Trailer with Lippert Turning Point Pin Box

Question:

I have a new 2020 F250, with factory 5th wheel package. Looking to tow a Reflection 150 series with a Lippert turning point pin box. The truck has a 69 inch bed, with 21 inch high sidewalls. What is the best hitch for this situation? Do I really need a slider?

Since you have a Lippert Turning Point pin box on your Reflection 5th wheel you can safely use a stationary 5th wheel hitch. We recommend using a sliding 5th wheel hitch with a short bed truck when the trailer has a standard pin box because there is usually a clearance issue with the trailer making contact with the truck cab on tight turns. The Turning Point takes that issue out of the equation.

I personally like the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitches because they are easy to install, put together, they have 1" thick dual jaws that secure the king pin, a cam-action latching handle for easy release on uneven terrain, and they are made in the USA. For your application you can use either the 20K # BWRVK3300 or the 25K # BWRVK3305.

These have a max height of 18-3/4" so you just need to make sure that the bottom of your trailer overhang sits at least 7-1/4" higher than the plate on the bottom of your pin box to ensure that there is enough height clearance so your trailer doesn't make contact with your truck bed sides.

The Curt A16 # C16520-16017 that fits your pickup is another good choice with a good jaw system, but it has a max height setting of 17" and it lacks the cam-action latching handle so it will be a little more difficult to unhook your trailer if you're parked on uneven terrain.

I have attached some photos you can check out to make sure the 18-3/4" max height is connect for your application.
