5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Options for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

Question:

Is there any point ordering the advanced trailering package if you are using a fifth wheel tailgate as opposed to the factory one. Also is the BandW 5th wheel hitch the only one compatable with the 2020 2500hd from GM

From what I could find there are multiple advantages to using the GM trailer package for 5th wheel towing with a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, but it all depends on what you're towing, what kind of budget you have, and if you want the extras that come with the package. It looked like they beefed up the pickups overall that have the trailering package but if you're towing a smaller 5th wheel trailer and the base model 2500HD can handle the weight then there really isn't a "need" to get the package.

There are a handful of 5th wheel hitch options which I have linked for you to filter through. If you're looking at the B&W hitches (arguably the best on the market) then you need the sliding version part # BWRVK3775 if you have a short bed, or the stationary option for a long bed that comes in 2 different weight capacities; 20K # BWRVK3710 and 25K # BWRVK3715.

If you can give me some more insight into what trailer you are pulling and what you are looking for in a truck I can possibly offer some more insight, but it basically boils down to whether you want to pay more money for the extras or if the base is a good fit for your lifestyle. Currently there are no louvered tailgates out for a 2020 (as of January 2020) but I'd imagine that it won't be too long for a fit to surface if that's really the main thing you're wanting.
