Troubleshooting A-iPower 2,000 Watt Generator Shutting Down After 20 Minutes Powering Refrigerator
Question:
My SUA2000i wont produce power. I just connect a fridge and the generator begins to operate good, but 20 minutes after the generator stop working. I check the diode bridge and is working . I check the breaker and is working too. Everything looks good. Can you tell me what could be the possible problem. It could be the electronic board?

I reached out to my contact at A-iPower to get his thoughts on why your 2,000 Watt Inverter Generator # 289-SUA2000i might be shutting down after 20 or so minutes when trying to power your refrigerator. He did say that the 2,000 watts starting and 1,600 watts running power output on this generator should be enough to power up just about any refrigerator on the market, but he's thinking there's something in the background that's also consuming power from the generator. Typically this would be something like the factory inverter/charger on the trailer/RV that would also be getting power from the generator when it's hooked up.
This might be pushing the wattage over what the A-iPower Generator can provide, which will cause it to shut down like you described. I recommend checking to see what else is hooked up to the circuit you have the generator plugged into and check what kind of power consumption it requires.
Since the generator does power on and run for a bit, my contact thinks it's pretty unlikely that the generator itself is at fault. Depending on what you find with regards to the charger power requirements, you may just need to add another # 289-SUA2000i to double your power output.
Please just let me know if you find that the refrigerator is truly the only accessory consuming power and I will be happy to look into this further.
