Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to a Dexter Torflex #9 Axle?

Question:

I have a 2015 Little Guys Silver Shadow 5X10 tear trailer to which I want to add electric brakes from scratch. The axle is a Dexter Torflex #9, either 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb I cant read the imprint, and it has the 4 bolt brake flange already installed. The dry weight of the trailer is about 1,200 lbs. It has 14 inch wheels in a 5X4.5 pattern. I havent disassembled it yet to get a bearing part number. I previously bought and installed the seven pin harness and brake controller from you. Now I need the rest of the parts. The 7 inch electric brakes and hubs Im looking at online seem only recommended for 13 inch or smaller wheels. Can you make a recommendation? Aside from two electric brakes and two hubs/drums is there anything else I need to buy to complete the installation? Seal, bearings, etc?

Expert Reply:

Most 7 inch hub drums aren't compatible with 14 inch wheels, but the Dexter # 8-257-5UC3-EZ is an exception because it will adequately support the wheel.

This hub uses the L44649 inner and outer bearing which is compatible with the spindles on your Torflex # 9 axle beam. The bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap and lug nuts are included. The hub/drums are sold individually.

You'll also need a left hand brake assembly, like # 23-47 and a right hand like # 23-48. The assemblies have mounting studs, and the necessary mounting hardware is included.

I'd also recommend a wiring upgrade kit like # HS381-9000. You'll also need some # 10-1-1 wire to run the brake lines from the junction box to the brake assemblies. Keep in mind that the wire color code in the included trailer connector is different that usual.
