Installing Snow Chains on 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Roadtrek with Dual Tires

Question:

I have a Sprinter Roadtrek 4x4. To be in compliance with the bulk of state laws, do I need chains on all four wheels, or just the main drive wheels? Secondly, should I put a single chain on the dual wheels, or wrap each of the real wheels separately? Finally, how much bulk how much storage space will the chains require, and how much weight are we talking about?

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Roadtrek and under the snow chain section it does state that traction devices should only be used on the rear axle and they need to be specifically rated for use on vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance. Furthermore on dually models you should only use chains on the outside wheels (not on both). As long as you have chains appropriate for your particular vehicle (enough to cover the rear axle on yours) you will be in compliance with local laws that require snow chains.

With all of this in mind I highly recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2317 as long as you have the standard 215/85-16 tire size on the Sprinter. These are excellent, durable chains that are Class S rated (designed for limited wheel well clearances) and feature a convenient color-coded design that allows for really simple installation. I have installed these particular chains in the past and can speak to their ease of use and durability.

The chains come packed into a small portable hand bag (see attached image for its relative size) and in total for both chains weigh just about 14 pounds (7 pounds each). I have included a short video demonstration below that you can check out as well.
