Is Weight Distribution Needed for 2019 Toyota Tacoma That Has Rear Suspension Enhancement Installed
Question:
Hello. So I plan on adding some rear suspension jounce springs to my 2019 Tacoma - don't want air bags so cross that off your list. I usually am carrying something in the bed so I'm not too worried about the empty ride quality. Your recommendation is appreciated. Now I will also be towing a travel trailer here and there. Would a weight distribution system ALSO be needed? Or is that overkill? Thanks for your advice.

Starting with the rear springs for your 2019 Toyota Tacoma, I highly recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TTORTUN4L, which will offer excellent rear suspension support for your heavier loads. The durable Aeon hollow rubber springs simply replace the factory bump stops for an easy installation and a maintenance-free lifespan thereafter. The system has a combined weight capacity of 3,000 pounds.
I have attached a short video demonstration and a full install video that you can check out as well.
Now for your second question, depending on the weight of your trailer, a weight distribution system can absolutely still provide benefit and wouldn't be overkill as it's really going to approach load support from a different angle. A weight distribution system will also provide sway-control capabilities that jounce springs won't.
To keep it simple, anytime a trailer weighs more than half the tow vehicle's weight, a weight distribution system is a good idea even if rear suspension enhancement is already added.
If you can tell me your trailer weight I will be happy to recommend a specific system. In the meantime I have attached a couple of really great articles below that will help you through this process, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
