Wiring In New Hopkins Molded Trailer Connector On Feather Light Trailer
Question:
I have the Molded Hopkins ...... wiring it to my Feather light trailer ...... are the colors correct ...please help 20244. Would Feather Light use the Hopkins wire color all the way through … seems that the colors matched …. Coming out of the trailer under the tongue …. Looked like their wire as well …. I simply wanted to splice in the new plugin ……

The Hopkins molded plugs like the 20244 (which has the same color functions as the newer Hopkins Molded 7-Way trailer connector part # H20043) features wiring colors that are different from standard trailer wiring setups. The Color functions are below:
White - Ground
Red - Left Turn and Brake
Brown - Right Turn and Brake
Green - Running Lights
Blue - Brake Power
Black - 12V Power
Yellow - Aux
Sometimes Hopkins can use different color functions on different parts of the Hopkins brand so the new plug you tried to put on the trailer may not even match up the trailer wiring by color. You may consider testing the functions on your trailer with a jumper wire and battery to see which functions activate before wiring in the new plug.
