In order to flat tow your 2011 Lincoln MKX you will need the following parts: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lights, supplemental braking and rise/drop adapter; I have listed these parts below for you to have a look at.
Base Plates- Blue Ox Base Plates w/ Removable Arms # BX2625
Tow Bar- Blue Ox Alpha 2 # BX7380 (comes with safety cables integrated)
Supplemental Braking - Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR
Lights- Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Light Set # 337TL257M64
I recommend going with the Blue Ox base plates because they're the only ones compatible with both the adaptive cruise control and non-adaptive cruise control models of the 2011 Lincoln MKX; the removable arms allow you to have a clean front end when you're not flat towing for added convenience and I love the quality and durability of Blue Ox base plates. For the tow bar, you'll want to use the Blue Ox Alpha since it doesn't require the use of any type of adapter with your Blue Ox baseplates. The Alpha is a non-binding tow bar that comes with integrated safety cables and telescoping arms. This bar is easy to hookup on uneven ground and the self-aligning design means that you don't have to worry about getting perfectly lined up with your tow vehicle to connect.
For supplemental braking I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot II because it's easy to setup and allows you to switch easily between vehicles in the event that you want to flat tow something different in the future. This system offers proportional braking that works with air brakes, hydraulic brakes and air over hydraulic brakes-which is flexibility that a lot of supplemental braking systems don't offer. The braking signal is transmitted to your tow vehicle over a reliable wireless radio frequency signal to quickly provide braking that matches the timing and pressure placed on the brakes of your RV/Motorhome.
For lights, I love the easy to install light system since it doesn't require any additional wiring; these magnetic lights are placed on the rear of your MKX and the wireless plug into your 4 way connection on your RV provides brake, turn and running lights in an easy to use system. The lights are LED, so even though they're powered by AAA batteries, the power draw is lower which will allow those batteries to last longer.
The last part that you'll need is a rise/drop adapter; I have attached a link to a helpful article on how to measure for the correct rise/drop needed for your application, as well as the link to all of our rise/drop adapters we offer so that you can chose the appropriate one for your setup.
