Can T-Taps Be Used to Install Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock on 2017 Honda Ridgeline

Question:

Hi! Im very interested in this product, and your DIY videos are awesome. However a couple folks have mentioned theres no need to run the wiring all the way to the fuse box/engine compartment and can tap into the power in the A-Pillar. My question is: Is there any issue using a T-Tap to connect to the power vs. cutting and splicing? Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words! You can indeed use wiring behind the B-pillar in your 2017 Honda Ridgeline when installing the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 instead of having to run the wiring all the way up into the fuse box. You can absolutely use T-Taps to tie in the Pop & Lock wiring to the Ridgeline's wiring. This still accomplishes what's needed for operation, which is to tap into that circuit on the truck so the tailgate system will lock/unlock in correspondence with the factory power locks.

I have attached a short video review along with the full install manual below that you can check out as well.
