Comparison Between Trailer Hitches for a Bike Rack on a 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

Looking for a trailer hitch for my 2019 Outback Wagon. I see you guys have a lot of choices but what are the differences between them? I'm needing to use it for a bike rack.

Excellent question! The immediate difference is that some of the trailer hitches have a 1-1/4" receiver while others have a 2" receiver. We always recommend going with the larger 2" receiver because more accessories are compatible with it.

All of the available 2" trailer hitches (linked below) exceed the weight capacity for your 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon so it really just boils down to style and brand. Some of the trailer hitches, Draw-Tite # 75673, Curt # C13206, and etrailer # e98847 have visible crosstubes. This makes them more cost-effective but they don't look as clean when installed.

I prefer the hidden crosstube styles which include Draw-Tite # 76227, Curt # C13410, and EcoHitch # 306-X7601. I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76227 because it has a hidden crosstube, is cost-effective, and it only has 2" of clearance to the rear bumper which means you have more options for accessories since it has such little clearance.

If you don't already have a bike rack I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B because it has the best features for avid outdoorsmen/women like what we see with Outback Wagon owners. The NV 2.0 is made of lightweight aluminum (for durability and corrosion resistance) which is covered by a metallic black and anodized gray powder coat finish to help keep it looking great for a long time. Kuat has designed this bike rack so that all of the moving parts are easy to use and it also comes with a bike repair stand so you can make changes to you bike(s) whether you are out with your bike(s) or at home in the driveway.

I have attached a sample install video of the Draw-Tite hitch and then a review video of the Kuat NV 2.0, both on a ,19 Outback Wagon for you to check out.
