Best Option To Bypass Factory Brake Controller On a 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
My friend has a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 WT. It has a integrated Factory brake controller BUT the factory did not install a trailer brake module so he does not have trailer brakes from truck to trailer. Chevrolets for some reason cannot add one after the fact and has told him to buy an after market controller and they will pay for it. we are looking for help on choosing one that will work with these issues and what all we would need to hook it up. Thanks!!

I do have an option for your friend but there is going to be some issues bypassing the factory brake controller on a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with a conventional brake controller due to the factory computer. However, we have not yet had the chance to do this so I would not have any advice on installation save for a completely hardwired install which I am sure is not what your friend wants to do as it requires splicing.
That said, what you can do is use the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 as this will bypass the factory brake controller or whatever the truck is equipped with and no other additional wiring is required. The Curt Echo uses your phone so it is easy to setup and operate.
