Powered Trailer Jack Blows Fuse on 2017 Chevy Suburban
Question:
Was in the process of raising a powered trailer jack it suddenly stopped. Jack is powered by a 7-way connector plugged into the suburban. Also, interior trailer lights went out at same time. Can only think I blew a fuse. Question is which one? Suburban has 4 fuse panels and nothing obvious stand out.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Assuming you had the jack powered directly from the 7-way trailer connector, rather than a trailer mounted battery, you have blown the 12-volt feed fuse to the trailer connector. GM refers to this as 'Trailer Battery' and it's in location 67 in the fuse box under the hood, as shown in the provided diagram. I'd also recommend you check the power supply wire for the jack, as sometimes there will be an inline fuse.
For best results, I'd recommend installing a battery on the trailer. You can use a battery box like # 329-HM318BKS bolted to the trailer frame. Run the feed from the trailer connector to the positive pole, as well as the supply wire for the jack. Ground the negative battery terminal to the trailer frame. The feed from the trailer connector will keep the battery topped off, but won't charge it once it's depleted. To fully charge the battery, use shore power and a quality battery charger like the NOCO # 329-GENIUS5.
