Why is this product NOT recommended for my 2017 GMC 3500 Denali?

You can use the Demco Recon in your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali, but which model you will need is going to depend on a few things, so bear with me while I explain some of the caveats involved.
You won't be able to use the Demco Recon # DM8550045 mounted on the gooseneck ball with a wedge style pinbox like the Reese Sidewinder # RP61450 . In order to use the Recon with a wedge style pinbox, you would need the # DM8550043 and the above bed rail kit # DM6194 , since the torque that these hitches endure with a Sidewinder is too much for a gooseneck connection.
If you have a standard pinbox, you can use the # DM8550045 mounted on your 2-5/16" gooseneck ball provided it is no taller than 5". If you have the factory 5th wheel and gooseneck package, I would recommend making sure that the ball you have sits no more than 5" high and as long as it doesn't, you'll be able to use the # DM8550045 hitch.
If you can't make the gooseneck ball work, your best bet is going with the rail mounting kit and the # DM8550043 .
