How to Determine if Fan-Tastic Roof Vent Needs Replacement Switch or Fan Motor

Question:

Yesterday I turned the 3-speed switch on my fantastic fan. Fan started to turn but then stopped. It would not work on any of the speeds. Blade moved almost not at all. Is it a good chance that thats the 3-speed switch or could it be the fan motor and how would I know which one needs replaced?

If you have a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 you could test the wires of the switch as you switch between them. If you can't get voltage on the pins that run from it to the motor in any of the positions you need a switch like the # FVK1031-05.

The motor replacement is the # FVK8017-00 which includes a new fan blade and bow tie bracket.
