How to Change 4-Flat to 5-Flat on 2011 VW Touareg for Boat Trailer
Question:
Trailer light wiring 2011 VW Touareg 5 pin wiring. I'll need a 5 pin wiring plug for my boat trailer that has hydraulic brakes, the 5th wire is for the trailer brake servo so that it bypass the hydraulic brake while I back up. Do you have module for coming off the back up light circuit? I assume you can't just power up from the car back up light circuit due to the car comfort module that controls all the lighting operation

I am not sure if you have the 4-flat on your 2011 VW Touareg or not already, but if not you simply need to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118668. You will then be able to connect it to a trailer 5-way such as # HM47910 by using the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036.
All you need to do to install this adapter is plug one end into the 4-way on your VW and splice the blue wire to your Touareg's reverse light wire and you'll have a working 5 way with no module needed because the circuit is activated when you back up. This will allow you to tow your boat trailer with your '11 Touareg with a hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13116.
I have added a link to a video review and example install of this adapter for you to check out as well.
