Tekonsha P3 Installed in 2014 GMC Acadia Won't Power Up
Question:
I first installed it with the vehicle supplied cable which had 5 wires matching up the colors on the red , black, blue and white wires leaving the gray wire on the vehicle supplied cable off. no joy. then I replaced the cable with the vehicle specific cable still no joy. This vehicle has never had a break controller installed. I am wondering if there is a fuse or relay problem, Im not getting any voltage between the black and white wire.

Check the fuse box in the engine compartment, it's on the passenger side. Remove the cover, and look for the fuse location labeled '*' or 'TRLR BRK' as shown in the diagram I've provided. Install a 30 amp fuse or replace it if it's blown.
I think what might have happened is that although your OEM brake pigtail might have the same wire colors except for the gray wire, the wires do NOT match up color for color to the brake controller wires. On your pigtail, the red wire is for 12-volt power, but on the controller the power wire is black. The pigtail black wire is the ground, but on the controller ground is the white wire, the blue wire on the pigtail and on the controller both carry the output from the controller to the trailer connector and the white wire on the pigtail carries the brake signal and connects to the red brake controller wire. So, there's a good chance that if you connected the wires color for color, the fuse blew.
Hopefully, once you replace the fuse, you'll be good to go. I've linked you to our brake controller help articles, hopefully you'll find them helpful.
