How to Measure to Determine if a Fifth Wheel Trailer Will Have Clearance Above Truck Bed Rails
Question:
I am looking at purchasing a 2019 ford f 350 with the OEM fifth wheel prep package. I’m looking at this hitch and my ? Is this how can I know the the height clearance will work with the fifth wheel camper that I have so my bed doesn’t contact my truck bed. I’m currently towing with a dodge 2500 v-10 and there is a bed height difference of about 4 inches lower then the Ford F-350. I want to be sure I can get under my camper with the height difference before I buy. Any help will be appreciated or recommendations would be helpful. Thanks

So the recommended clearance to have between the overhang of a fifth wheel trailer and the bed rails is 6 inches to prevent interference. So your best option is to measure from the ground to the top of the bed rails on the new truck and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer overhang. If that distance is 6 inches at least you'll be totally fine clearance wise.
The Reese hitch part # RP30921 is a direct fit for the bed of your 2019 Ford F-350 with the factory rail kit so it would be a great solution. It's a very solid and quiet hitch so you'll be happy towing with it.
