Comparing RockyMounts HighNoon FC Bike Rack and Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Rack
Question:
I am a small 105 pound woman with some arthritis in her hands. I am looking at the Kuat and the RockyMounts single hitch platform bike racks for my 2014 Subaru forester. I like the Kuat because it had the step on tilt and open function. The hand release on the Thule t-2 models was hard for my hand and the I couldn’t find a RockyMounts model to try. Since the Thule RockyMounts is lighter, maybe it would work? I do like that it includes the locks already integrated. how would you compare the Kuat to the RockyMounts for my situation?

Expert Reply:
Actually, the Kuat Transfer 1 part # KU64FR you mentioned is lighter than the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack # RKY87RR by 3 lbs. It weighs 26 lbs and the RockyMounts weighs 29. It's not a huge difference but if you prefer the tilting mechanism of the Kuat and aren't a fan of the latch system on the RockyMounts I'd say the Kuat is your overall best choice! It's a big hit with our other customers who have tried it as well, so I know you'll really like it.
I attached a review video link for this rack for you to check out as well.
