What is Best Solution for Turning Clearance with Short Bed Truck without Using a Slider

Question:

Is this pop in ball compatible with the convert-a-ball offset 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter? I have a 2019 GMC 2500 with a standard bed and the GMC factory prep package. I am interested in towing my fifth wheel with a Gooseball. The Reese Goosebox is not an option as it will move my trailer too far forward. I am not comfortable with that. I currently have a sliding fifth wheel hitch and am happy with my turning radius with out using my slider. It would be nice to get some bed space back and have a clean bed when not towing b

The short answer is yes, the # C60629 can be used with the Convert a Ball Offset Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216 but you will still have clearance issues unfortunately as the offset pivots when the truck turns which reduces it's efficiency.

Your best solution would actually be a Sidewinder pin box replacement. This gives you the turning clearance you need without having to mess with a slider hitch whenever you get to a parking lot. It does this by moving the pivot point of the trailer back 22.5 inches.

If your trailer has a Lippert 1621 pin box on it currently you'd want the Sidewinder part # RP34FR. Or if you have something different let me know and I'll let you know what you'd need. This is the best option for turning clearance on a short bed truck without having to mess with a slider.

I attached an install video for the Sidewinder for you to check out as well.
