The difference between the MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00A04301K and the MaxxAir MaxxFan Mini Roof Vent # MA00-04301M is the height of the fan and the roof thickness they will fit. The mini roof vent extends 2-7/8" above roof when closed while the standard Maxxfan Roof Vent extends 4-1/4" above the roof when closed. The mini roof vent also fits roofs 1" - 6-1/2" thick while the standard fits roofs 2" - 6-1/2" thick.

Both models have a 4 speed option, manual lift and fit 14W X 14L roof openings. I have attached video reviews of both products for your reference.

Does this mean that the Mini would open further compared to the standard model given a solar panel was installed 7" above the roof line over the fan?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by opening further. Both models feature the same lid/hinge design. Can you tell me what you're referring to with regards to the solar panel you mentioned?

@ChrisR With my roof rail system and solar panel mounting system, there is about a 7" gap from rooftop to bottom of solar panel. The fan will be mounted under the panel. So with the Mini fan sitting lower I assume it's hinge point is lower relative to say a Plus model van. So if a Plus model fan would open 3/4s of the way before hitting the panel, would a Mini open fully?

@JohnH I get it now! Yes, the Mini Roof Vent # MA00-04301M will sit lower than the standard model. I'm not sure it will be able to open completely, but when open it'll save you at least around 2" of height compared to what you're using now.
