Towing a fifth-wheel trailer with a 2010 Dodge Ram Pickup with 5 foot 7 inch bed is definitely possible. Beds shorter than 6 feet require the addition of a Sidewinder replacement pin box for the fifth-wheel trailer you will be towing. To select the correct Sidewinder pin box, see link, you will need to determine the manufacturer and model number of the pin box on your trailer.

Once you have selected a trailer and Sidewinder, you will need to install a stationary 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your truck that is compatible with the Sidewinder pin box. I would recommend the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail Installation Kit, # RP30035-386, for your truck, because Reese is also the maker of the Sidewinder replacement pin boxes. The specific instructions for your truck with less than 6 foot long bed are listed on page 12 of the instructions, see link. Make sure to read all of the instructions for your vehicle before beginning the install.

Once you have the rails installed you will need to select a fifth-wheel hitch with a capacity that exceeds the total weight of your trailer loaded and ready to travel. If you are looking for an economical hitch and your trailer will never exceed 16,000 lbs, I would recommend the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30047. You will also need the Wedge Kit # SWW-03 to lock the king pin in place in the jaws

If you are looking for the best ride, more features, and easier use, I recommend going with the Reese 20K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30928, which will allow you to tow a trailer up to 20,000 lbs, now or in the future, and has the 4 way pivoting head and one-piece, self-latching jaw that provides absolute security and less chucking with its wraparound design. You will also need the Wedge Kit # RP44FR to lock the king pin in place in the jaws.
