Do the Load Resistors Go Inside the Light Assembly When Switching to LEDs On a Trailer

Question:

In reading through the information about the 328-003-81LBM1, it suggests that the installation of a load resistor such as the Putco P230004A May be necessary. Given this is a flush mount exterior light, is there ample room inside the light fixture to install the resistor? I’m planning on replacing the incandescent fixtures for tail lights on a 2018 Keystone Avalanche 5th wheel.

When installing the LED Trailer Tail Light with License Plate Bracket part # 328-003-81LBM1 with a load resistor like the Putco LED Light Bulb Load-Resistor Kit part # DI34ZR, the load resistor will not get installed inside the actual light assembly. The load resistor just needs to be inline with the signal wire so a few inches behind the taillight will be just fine. Furthermore, the load resistors do get hot so they will need to be mounted in an area clear of any obstructions.
