Curt Echo Wireless Controller on 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE

Question:

I own a 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE with a factory dealer installed tow package that includes the four-pin connector. I want to tow a small RV trailer 4000 lbs GVW with a seven-pole connector. Someone with a 2019 Highlander asked about using the Curt Echo controller. In that case, though, the customer said that he believed the towing harness does *not* include a four-pin connector. Your answer included a recommendation to purchase the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # HM11141825.inch It looks to me like that isnt necessary because I already have the four-pin connector. So, my questions are: 1 Do I need Part No. HM11141825? 2 Is Part No. ETBC7L the only wiring upgrade kit I need? 3 When installing Part No. ETBC7L to use with the Curt Echo, do I ignore the blue wire that is supposed to connect to a brake controllers output wire and just leave it floating but with end insulated, of course? Thanks,

All you will need is the 7-Way Upgrade Wiring Kit, # ETBC7L that you mentioned.

The installation process is straight-forward and the installation videos I attached do a great job walking through the steps. I'd start with the # ETBC7L install video and then the # C51180 video. Some additional components to include are dielectric grease # 11755 to keep moisture out, prevent corrosion, and ensure good performance on your 4 pole connector.

Regarding the blue wire, wrap it with the yellow wire in electrical tape # DW04367 insulated separately and tuck up under the bumper or secure with a zip tie.
