Replacement Latches for Truxedo TruXport Tonneau Cover on 2002 Dodge Ram
Question:
On my tonneau cover that came with my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 the latches seem too tight. I see on the front part of the latches appears to be an adjustment nut to relax the cover tension. Is there a special tool to turn that nut I tried several of my sockets but they wont fit.Latch looks like the TX1117755. How does the TX1117755 latch get adjusted if it needs to? I have this latch also. Seems to have a nut that should be used for adjustment but none on my sockets will fit.Is there a special tool needed?

Thanks for the photos; there is not a special tool and if you have the TruXedo TruXport Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover such as # TX246601 that fits a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 the linked instruction manual even states "There is no need to adjust cover length tension. The Latch Assembly is set to the correct tension. Any modification done to this will VOID warranty." It also states the cover may appear tighter in "warmer or hot conditions."
That said, if your latches are not securing properly they would need to be replaced. Your photos do look like the Replacement Dual Latch Kit for TruXedo TruXport Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Covers # TX1117755 though these are only a fit for TruXport covers manufactured after April 2011 so without knowing your exact model number I would not be able to guarantee they will work for you.
