Can 2014 Ram 1500 5.5 ft Bed Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with Sidewinder
Question:
We been using in a 6-foot bed truck. We now have purchased a EcoDiesel 1500 4 by 4 with a 5 and 1/2 foot bed can I use the hitch I have with a Sidewinder ? I need to know what product I need to make it safe to tow with a 5 and 1/2 foot bed . Whether I can use the existing hitch take it out of a 6-foot bed and put it in the 5 and 1/2 or if I should buy a whole new product

Yes, the great thing about the Sidewinders like the part # RP61412 is that they will allow trucks with beds shorter than 6 feet to tow fifth wheel trailers. It's one of the very few options that will work so you'll be able to take your current hitch and swap it into your new truck and use it with the Sidewinder.
For a rail kit for the truck you'll need the Reese kit part # RP50142-58 which is custom fit for your 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel short bed. This means it will install quickly and easily.
This would be all you'd need and you'd be on your way.
