Question:

I want to pull a new motorcycle trailer with my car. How do I connect my existing 4 way flat vehicle connection to a 5 way round connection, that curently exists on my motorcycle trailer.

There are two good ways to accomplish this. You can convert the motorcycle trailer and the motorcycle to a combined system that uses the same light for the brake light and turn signals. The rear lamp assemblies would need to be replaced, and put a converter like part # 119178 on the motorcycle. This way, the trailer can easily be towed by the bike and the vehicle.

The other method (which I would recommend) would involve constructing an adapter using the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter, part # 118158, a 4-pole trailer end connector like part # 18004, and a 5-pole vehicle end, like part # PK11502. When wired as shown in the provided photo, the adapter will allow you to tow the motorcycle trailer with the vehicle. When towing with the motorcycle, omit the adapter. The vehicle to vehicle converter has a fairly low capacity, you would be limited to a dual filament bulb for the running/brake light and one single filament turn signal per side. Any additional running or marker lights would draw too much amperage.
