Easier Ways to Adjust Height Setting of Demco Hijacker Autoslide Fifth Wheel

Question:

You guys have been great so far. thanks! New question: I have my Demco Autoslide hitch installed in my F250 and need to adjust the height. The instruction manual shows the physical arrangement of the steel plates for the various heights, but since Im not Superman, a little more info is needed. How do I physically support this several hundred pound hitch while I change side plates? I will have a small shop hoist to help. Best to rest it on 4x4 in wood blocks? Tilt up on edge? Advice appreciated.

If your trailer is handy you could connect the hitch to your trailer in your truck bed and then use the jacks to lift the front of the trailer and the hitch once you unbolt the side plates. This would probably be the easiest way to lift the hitch relative to the side brackets.

Otherwise I'd recommend taking the hitch of the truck bed and setting it on it's side and moving the plates that way.
