Can Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Wheel # AM20746 Be Used on Tandem Axle 14,640 Pound Trailer

Question:

Will the dexter Mini Mod Trailer Wheel work with Goodyear G614s set at 110 PSI? If so, what is the weight allowance. I need 3750 Lbs per tire. My max RV weight is 14,640 Lbs and is a dual axel. This is a replacement rim for what a local tire dealer sold me two years ago that, I found out after one failed lacked Dexter and DOT information so they were nock offs.

The Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20746 features a 3,050 pound weight capacity so you won't be able to use it on your trailer that has a 14,640 pound GVWR . Based on this weight you will ideally want at least a 3,660 pound weight capacity on each of the tire/wheel combos.

The highest capacity 16 inch wheels we have available with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern is with either the HWT Aluminum S5 # AM22658HWTB or the HWT Aluminum Split Spoke # AM22658HWT which both feature a 3,580 pound weight capacity.

Keep in mind that 10 to 15 percent of the trailer's total weight will be tongue weight applied to the tow vehicle so the HWT wheels should still be sufficient even though they technically fall below the individual limits mentioned above. With either option you will also need to add the Americana Metal Valve Stem # AM20906 that is rated for up to 200 psi.
