Leaf Springs for 1964 Aristocrat Lo-Liner 13 Single Axle Travel Trailer

Question:

I just picked up a 64 Aristocrat , 13ft, low liner that has been sitting for several years. My understanding is that they are 1500#. On it is a 7 leaf, double eye spring. Measure 27in from eye to eye still attached/ under load. Looking at whats available and the specs... Do I have to get another 7-leaf? Looks like most of the 4-leaf springs are rated at 3k+ Also, should I be looking at ~26in out of the box as I assume under pressure the spring flattens out a but to 27in

Your Aristocrat's axle may have a sticker or tag indicating its weight capacity, or you can use the Lo-Liner 13's listed dry weight of 1300-lbs as a guide. This dry weight suggests it has a 2K axle which would use 26-inch 4-leaf springs # e77SR.

Your best bet for selecting new leaf springs for your vintage Aristocrat is to remove one completely so you can measure its eye-to-eye length without it being under load. You're right that springs do stretch over time and your spring that is now about 27-inches may indeed have been a 26-inch spring when new. You do not necessarily have to match the number of leaves in the spring, but you do need to match the length and weight rating.
