Troubleshooting Open Ground Code on Tekonsha Prodigy P3
Question:
So we installed a P3 tekonsha Brake controller and it keeps throwing the code open ground when the trailer is not even plugged in. Do you know what that could be? Could it be a bad brake controller?

Expert Reply:
If the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is throwing an "Open Ground" code before you even connect your trailer then that means you should check the ground connection (white wire for pigtail) for the P3. It would also be beneficial to check the 7-Way connector on your tow vehicle and make sure that no debris or corrosion would be throwing this code either. Keep in mind that a good ground need to be securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface. I have attached a helpful article on troubleshooting you can reference as well.
If you are still having trouble with the code after checking these just let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
