Should Spring Bars Come Off Of Dual Cams While Turning With Strait-Line Weight Distribution System
Question:
when i make a sharp turn the tention arm comes off the end of the came
asked by: Richard
Expert Reply:
Extremely sharp turns like jack-knifing can result in the tension bar coming off of the dual cam completely on the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution Systems. The strait line system is designed for the spring bar to lift up off of the cam to allow for sharp turning but the bar should not completely come off because of the hooks at the end. The only time we have heard of this happening is when a customer is making sharp turns in close quarters. If that is the case, you would want to remove the spring bars when trying to get out of a tight spot. If the arms are coming off of the cams during regular turning then the cams may need to be adjusted or tightened.
