Can the Yakima HoldUp EVO be Used with Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Chevy Cruze

Question:

I have a 2013 Chevy Cruze and I’m wanting to upgrade to a hitch rack. I own a Yakima trunk rack now and I’m very pleased with their products, do you think this rack would be to heavy for my car I noticed others were lighter but I really like this one. What are your recommendations

The Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02480 is an excellent bike rack that I believe you'd be happy with but I do have to say that it is 50 lbs. When I looked up the online version of the owner's manual for your 2013 Chevy Cruze it stated that the max trailer weight for your vehicle is 1,000 lbs and that the max tongue weight is 10% of that (100 lbs). So even if you're using the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11282 which has a 200 lb tongue weight rating, you are limited to the 100 lbs. If your bikes don't weigh more than 50 bikes combined then I highly recommend going with the HoldUp EVO!

If your bikes weigh more than 50 lbs combined then I recommend going with the Kuat Sherpa instead because it only weighs in at 32 lbs and can accommodate up to 2 bikes weighing in at 40 lbs. Although you won't be able to carry 2 bikes that weigh 40 lbs this gives you some flexibility in what bikes you can carry up to 68 lbs combined. The Sherpa is a great alternative to the HoldUp as it features the wheel mount application, bike and rack locks, a tool-free installation, plus it has an aluminum construction which means it won't rust. This bike rack comes in Gray # SH12G, Black # SH12B, and Pearl # SH12P as well so you can choose whichever one matches best with the color scheme of your Cruze.

I have attached an installation video of the Curt on a 2013 Cruze that you can reference as well as a review video of the Sherpa for you to check out.
