Landing Gear for Keystone Montana

Question:

The outer tube length of my existing landing gear is 29-1/2 inch. I ordered a replacement Stromberg Carlson that is 34 1/2 inch and it will be 4 inch lower than the existing landing gear when retracted. I was just told that my order of Lippert LC333964 will not be here for a month. I need something now. What is there that will fit my Montana?

Your Keystone Montana is unique in that this is one of the rare trailers that actually has specific landing gear replacements that you will need, and are only available as individual parts (note: the cross shaft is not available as a replacement part):

- Replacement Lead Leg for Keystone Montana 5th Wheel Landing Gear # LC178653

While I understand this may not be exactly what you want to hear, it is important that you get the landing gear that will work instead of finding out later that what you ordered will not work.

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.

You will have to go with a sliding hitch to allow the trailer to make tight turns. For a trailer 8 feet wide the only bed length that's going to allow 90 degree turns without a slider is a stationary hitch. That being said you have two options.…
