Does Brake Controller Install in 2013 Toyota Tacoma Without Factory 7-Way Require Installation Kit

Question:

Above comments says that If you do not have an 7 way plug all ready on your vehicle, that you would not have the plug under the dash. I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma which is a base model and it has the plug, but no 7 way or a 4 way or even a trailer hitch. I have installed the hitch and other above items along with the brake controller, so my question is does this truck have the wiring harness so I can just attach or splice the 7 way plug into this harness? With out purchasing all the wire and other items to attach this to the controller..thank you hope this make sense...

I'm not entirely sure what brake controller or wiring you have on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma, but I can tell you that to add a brake controller to your Tacoma you will need to first add Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118496 and then the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This is the only way you will be able to add a 7-way and brake controller since you do not have a factory 7-way on your '13 Tacoma.

Once you have installed these you will need to hardwire in a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 or Brake EVN # TK63VR, both of which will require Harness # 20127. Another option, if you don't want to do any wiring, is to install the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L along with the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller # C51180 which simply requires you to plug the controller into your 7-way and use your smartphone to sync the controller and that's it.

I've added a link to some video reviews as well as a link to a help article on installing a brake controller which I highly recommend checking out.
