Recommended Brake Controller for a 2018 Dodge Durango SXT with Tow Package
Question:
I recently saw a posted question on your site regarding a 2017 Durango Citadel and find myself in the market for a brake controller as well. It looks like it may apply to me as well but thought i would check before I order. I have a 2018 AWD Durango SXT pulling 5400 - 5800 lbs. It also has the towing package on it. Can I order the same merchandise as recommended for that post for this application?

Yes, you can order both the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 with the Tekonsha Plug-In Adapter part # TK93VR to install a brake controller on your 2018 Dodge Durango SXT if it has the factory tow package. This is an excellent brake controller as it has safeguards to protect the vehicle/trailer in the event of an error, boost settings for better braking, and it has a lifetime warranty. The adapter then makes it all plug and play. I have attached a photo of where the plug is located as well.
Please note that due to the weight of the trailer you will be towing, you are likely to experience some sag. This sag can then cause issues with braking as well as stability so I highly recommend you consider a set of the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs part # AL60824 (see video).
