The most common mistake when replacing a trailer leaf spring is measuring the existing leaf spring while the trailer is loaded (wheels on the ground) and not accounting for the leaf spring lengthening over time. Therefore, it sounds like the new leaf spring you have may be a bit longer than the one it replaced which is why it is now hitting the equalizer. This would be the only reason that this happened if the equalizers and shackle straps remained the same.

If you still have the old leaf spring then remeasure this and then order the leaf spring the next closest size down (up to 1-1/2"). This should then fix your issue. Please note that an additional leaf spring will only raise the trailer 3/8" at most therefore you might want to consider the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX which offers up to 2-1/4" of lift.

I have attached our leaf spring selection for you as well.
