Spare Tire Mounting Location on Trailer Frame

Question:

where to mount spare tire Im wondering where I can or should mount the spare tire on my boat trailer. There is no room on the tongue. Can I mount it on the frame near the wheel and axle? Im attaching a photo. The spare clears the ground by about five inches. Is that enough?

The spare tire can be mounted near the wheel and axle to the frame, but you will want more than 5 inches of ground clearance. I recommend the Extra Offset Trailer Spare Tire Carrier by Dutton-Lainson # DL22145 based on your photo. Every extra inch will help as trailer suspension normally has a deflection of about 4 inches so just 5 inches would be pretty tight but can work in most cases.

Another option if you have enough tongue space to mount the tire vertically, you can use the Spare Tire Carrier for Roadmaster Tow Dollies # RM-2000-7.
